Elegantly Wasted - The Dog Years album cover

"The Dog Years" is ELEGANTLY WASTED's third album and, is what I'd call, pure Hard Rock with honest lyrics and powerful hooks. The song writing is overly impressive and the playing is tight and the production and performances sound excellent. I'm very much impressed by this album if you hadn't noticed.

One thing you may notice about this, mostly during the solos, is the SLASH like guitar tone, as a matter of fact, for a second I thought it was Slash playing during the solo for the opening track "Fire Away" which goes to show how impressive this band is.

"The Dog Years" is a very late 80s sounding album, with high energy and a great Bluesy feel, and I like Bluesy. Also there's a slight bit of grunge here and there, but it's not as noticeable as the Bluesy, Hard Rock that is this great album.

When you're in the mood, the songs on this album are pretty easy to get into, and there's no messing around, it's just straight edge Rock N Roll and any fans of Hard Rock will love this.

Some of my favourite tracks would be "Fire Away", "Stolen Moments", "Tattoos and Memories" and "Morning Fog" which all show off this album's ability to get your foot stomping. I'll be very sure to check out more of their stuff prior to this album.

The entire album has an enjoyable Classic Rock feel to it and you can clearly tell the influences of this band, just by the guitar tones and playing and even song writing. Now, the album does take a few breaks here and there with songs like "Rising Sun" and "Dead End Street" which are less energetic and more emotional and even heart felt songs which is something I'll always approve of is; having a break on an album, so to not make it too samey.

Overall, this album kicks ass and I really enjoyed listening to it. It's a must for any Rock fans out there because if you're a fan of your 80s/90s GUNS 'N' ROSES or Foo Fighters, you'll enjoy these guys.
