Ekotren - Light The Fire album cover

To tell you the truth, the reason why I chose to review this album is because the singer wears a kick ass t-shirt in the photo which is in the back of the promo. I mean, get serious! This guy rulez! He wears a fucking N.W.A t-shirt! For you that don-t know what that means, N.W.A is an old school Hip Hop band, where some of today's known Hip Hop musicians were involved. Do not be afraid, EKOTREN's music has nothing to do with such kind of stuff.

Hailing from Cape Coral, Florida, the band already counts 8 years of life, since it was formed in 2000. EKOTREN have managed to release two EP's (one in 2006 and one in 2007) and share the stage with the likes of SALIVA, NONPOINT, FLYLEAF and many other bands. The band managed to sign a contract with Blind Prophecy Records and they immediately entered the studio to record their debut album.

Let's see what can EKOTREN offer with their first ever full-length work. Their music can be characterized as a mixture between Nu Metal and Metalcore. To be more precise, this is what many people call Alternative Metal. If I could say that their music is similar to some bands, those bands would be TWIN METHOD and PAPA ROACH (at some moments). There also times when the band disguises in a brutal monster (for seconds though) and it may remind you of bands like THE HAUNTED and even LAMB OF GOD! Do not get excited, there are only several moments that such a thing happens.

The band's melody driven songs are definitely catchy and the choruses may make you sing along and catch your self singing the rhythm of some songs. Even though Light The Fire did not excite me at all, it was an album that made me spend some time pleasantly listening to some soft and easy listening music. I believe that people to listen to such kind of stuff will definitely get amazed with the band's more than decent compositions and the singer's really nice voice.

PS: Yeah, you guessed right. This album is not so Metal. It is kind of nice though.
