Amongst the deep black depths of Derry, Pennsylvania reside EGALITY four Black/Death Metal lords. They have delivered their fourth album appropriately named "Euphoric Disdain" with such grim and misery, in the world of Black Metal this is a huge compliment.

This dark, powerful quartet gathered together in 2007 to bring doom and despair to those around with their music. They have done this via releases such as "A Contingency" in 2008, "Undulations" in 2010 and "Embryonic Aseity" in 2012. "Euphoric Disdain" gives me a chance to experience torture and despair, which like I have said before is a huge compliment when Black Metal is concerned.

The album opens up with "Triad Talisman" where I really admired the sombre, depressing guitar riffs that built up to high pitch screaming. If you ever want to hear what AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson might sound like when he's having a mental breakdown then I suggest you listen to this record. At first I wasn't too fond of this vocal approach but it gradually grew on me as the album progressed.

My personal favourite track on the album was "Cerebral Chalice" as this provided the opportune chance to hear all the best elements of Black Metal in one track; it starts off fast paced with guitars going at a speedy rapidity and high pitch screaming, I admire how the track slows down to give us deeper growls and guitar riffs you can stamp your feet and head bang to.

"Damnation Dissipation" gives the listener one more chance to experience eternal misery before marking the end of a truly successful Black Metal record that I was completely absorbed by.

The record actually left me wanting to experience more misery and pain from this music, so overall I thought the album provided me with the perfect opportunity to experience EGALITY's sound. It also reminded me why I am so deeply interested in Black Metal and continue to admire it increasingly.
