Tinnitus Sanctus

...or Tobias Sammet's personal project. The first album that EDGUY didn't work together on the songs and all of the tracks are contributed by the mastermind of the band...After the doubtful heavy Rock of the previous Rocket Ride CD we are heading for the pure Metal Rock of their latest achievement Tinnitus Sanctus, or that's what they say...
I have to admit it; This album didn't convince me at all. It surely sounds better than Rocket and the destination is Metal-based but still the band remains close to more pop Metal formulas (BON JOVI, MOTLEY CRUE) or I should say close to how to make a hit single. Yes, you guessed it right. It sounds SO American that I wonder how their fan base (which is mainly European) will react. It's clear that the ED-guys want to spread their wings into the American market. I support the need of a band to change and none can remain the same through the years but what the hell?? I cannot follow this product of pure super-market Metal. Sorry, just count me out...
So, if you are a fan of the period between Vain Glory Opera and Mandrake you'll be disappointed. On the other hand, the production (by mastermind Sascha Paeth) is tremendous and very powerful capturing the live energy of the band. Sex Fire Religion, Dead Or Rock, Nine Lives and The Pride Of Creation are the ones that touched me while the other failed to go above average. As for the artwork, what can I say...so irrelevant from the whole package...DEICIDE would surely have done it better!!!
Here we have Jesus bleeding from his ears...and this concept due to the fact that Tinnitus is an ear illness. I really don't know if Jesus' ears would bleed if he could hear this one but since my ears are still healthy this record gets...
Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do...
