Eden's Curse - Live With The Curse album cover

I'm not one who will usually go and buy live albums for pleasure as personally before I never really saw the need to. I felt this way until recently when I was assigned "Live With The Curse" from Multi National Melodic Metal heroes EDEN'S CURSE.

The very event this album showcases is a very special concert that took place at Glasgow's The Classic Grand on 28th November 2014, where fans literally flew from far and wide to ensure they didn't miss this crucial event. I sadly couldn't make the actual event itself due to work commitments but this live album definitely gives me a feel of the buzzing atmosphere and I'm no live album expert but I am sure this is the desired effect.

This is the first live album review I have ever done so I listened out for some key aspects; how the tracks sounded live, particularly how newish vocalist Nikola Mijic takes on the older material. When I caught them live at The Underworld, London last year I wasn't very familiar with their sound but now having listened to their older albums such as "Trinity" and "The Second Coming" I like to think I have a better understanding of their sound.

Nikola in fact does a grand job belting those key vocal chords when performing the older tracks, so grand in fact it is like listening to the actual recording of their music. This goes to show he is definitely the right fit for the Curse. Especially in the songs "No Holy Man", "Fly Away" and one of my personal favourites "Masquerade Ball".

Speaking of the selection of tracks there was a brilliantly eclectic selection of tracks from across their discography; from the beautiful ballad "Fallen From Grace" taken from their latest "Symphony Of Sin" to the brilliantly heavy "Black Widow" from "Trinity" this set sounded like it contained something to suit everyone's pallet.

The very thing that this live album showcased is flawless talents that come together to create something magical; I wish I could go on and explain fully why I respect these guys for what they do but there just isn't enough space. So cutting to the chase:  the melodies from key master Steve Williams are just enchanting, guitar god Thorsten Koehne could give you an unblemished solo in the dark with his eyes closed, the rolling drums from John Clelland provide the solid back bone to show they mean business and bass man Paul Logue who keeps it all together marvelously.

To say I highly enjoyed this spectacle feat would be an understatement; it only increases my excitement to watch them again at Vasby Rock Festival this summer. This album is due for release 13th March (EU) and 14th March (USA), whether you were at the show or not I highly recommend this masterpiece.
