Earth Of Distrust - Proselytize album cover

If you are one of those 'stoned' followers who believe that the term 'stoner' fits better to the genre 'rock' than the 'Metal' one, here are EARTH Of DISTRUST and they are coming to belie you. The Greek trio from Athens, formed back in 2004, returns with the first full length album on its sleeve, after the very first taste they gave us 3 years ago with "I Am Sin" demo and, of course, a couple of enjoyable live appearances inside borders. The next step just happened and "Proselytize" is their first child on flesh and bones. So, let's see how the well-played stoner Metal is sounded.

The 'insiders' of EARTH OF DISTRUST music know pretty well what to expect from "Proselytize": low tempo tunes with the aggressive guitars on the leading path and some eerie growls are the main ingredients of the debut album that follows deservingly the expectations the demo created. The intro "Spinal Marrow" introduce us to the 'numb' and intoxicating world of EARTH OF DISTRUST that seems to step between post hardcore/ Metal tunes and stoner Metal melodies, giving a characteristic sound to their music. "Circle Of Nothingless (Knives)" and "Spirit Tradeoff" are some of the most representative samples of "Proselytize" with the second one be the only taken track from the previous demo. The magic thing about this band is that its music is capable to travel your mind and soul without buying a ticket, just put this album in your stereo and let the trio to do the rest.

The only disadvantage of this release is the mediocre and 'dry' production, but that's part of the 'game'; when we are talking about a private release, the corollary is the mediocre quality of sound. That's the reason I couldn't rate this effort. It would be unfair for me to rate lower a composition because of the incompatible quality. On the other hand, "Proselytize" is a good opportunity to induct into the band's musical point of view and lets hope that some label's doors will open for them soon. I think that the album's title did not come up by accident.
