Dys Inbunden - One with Morbidity

I don't believe you would be reading what I have to say unless you are pumped up to hear "One With Morbidity, The Opus Misanthropy" from DYS INBUNDEN. DYS INBUNDEN is a passion project between Gefandi Ör Andlät from Sweden (but was born in London), Magister Nocturnal from Serbia and Czech musician Honza Kapák, who has ripped on the drum kits under the name Butcher and puts his talents to use for DYS INBUNDEN providing Bass and Drums. Butcher was the former drummer of several Black Metal bands before, including NARGAROTH and KRIEG.

Great and creepy two minute-long introduction on "One With Morbidity", the album's inductive sonic ceremony. But "One With Morbidity, The Opus Misanthropy" is far from done. With a title like that, proclaiming itself an opus, if the negativity of its language hasn't persuaded you to look elsewhere for music, you are simply not prepared for what is on the album. Only one who has seen the devil look back at them in the mirror can truly be ready to hear the music off of "One With Morbidity, The Opus Misanthropy."

I'm not being entirely serious, of course. I feel like DYS INBUNDEN has certainly taken themselves seriously enough to be revered for making extreme heavy metal to the very meaning of those words. So, in other words, DYS INBUNDEN is not for everyone. And according to reading up on what Gefandi Ör Andlät has to say, he chooses his ideas extremely selectively and through this regurgigation of hatred and negativity, you can sort of decode what he is trying to say about himself through the brand of DYS INBUNDEN.

DYS IBUNDEN was a lot more rage and Satanically infused songs like "Odious Worhship of Annihilation" came off as more thrash metal-like and amongst all the thick atmospheres of evil through the album. This song, in particular is so ripping and ferocious that the cloak of evil becomes illuminated by the dim, red lights of blasphemy and rancor.

Meanwhile, "The Illuminating Gaze of Lucifer" is a melodic yet aggressively demonic song that breaks the tension momentarily with its expertly crafted gifts of melodic riffs. But the inferno of tortured screaming vocals rip through the melody and plunge the listener back into the pits of tense, blast-beating hell. This song shows how DYS INBUNDEN have lots of rock and alternative musical influences in their songwriting by their use of hypnotic, or some might say psychedelic, rhythms and guitar melodies.

I really wish I made more of a chance to stew over DYS INBUNDEN but, in my several listens to the album, I have reached the conclusion that "One With Morbidity, The Opus Misanthropy" really does reach the grandiose standards that its mere existence sets for itself. You will be taken to fiery pit of rage and perversion for a whopping 90 minutes upon listening to the music of DYS INBUNDEN. And I know I am repeating what I said at the beginning of the review but casual Black Metal fans, you will be challenged but you may also be delighted at the newfound wickedness you have unearthed for yourself. Hardcore fans of the genre will be equally as delighted as well. For everyone else, you may as well pass this altogether. I think this level of inaccessibility leads to "One With Morbidity, The Opus Misanthropy" getting a strong seven out of ten for being good but too advanced and unforgiving for the more casual metal listeners.
