Game of Faces
Dynazty

From their website, “Now the next step is unveiled in full with the herald of “Game of Faces,” DYNAZTY’s jawbreaker of a new album. Set for release on February 14, 2025, the album is doubling down on punch and ferocity together with the band’s trademark attention to songwriting and production details. “Game of Faces” takes you on a journey exploring the essence of the human mind and existence with lyrical themes such as self-discovery, spiritual death, rebirth and re-invention.”
The album has 11 songs, and “Call of the Night” is first, and it is heavily laden with lush, rich keyboards. A heavy riff follows and in comes some strong vocals, slapping your face with harmonies. It’s sort of a cross between AOR and Power Metal, and the lead breaks are smoking. The title track also has a lot of weight from a combination of keyboards and guitars, and the band is on fire. Their energy is focused, and their confidence vigorous. “Die to Survive” is another energetic, anthemic song, where the band shines brightest in the chorus. The hooks are big, dangerous, and infectious. “Fire to Fight” has some real haste behind, and it makes you want to get up, grab your will and your wits, and fight. The vocal harmonies are lush and layered, and they really complete the sound.
“Fortune Favors the Brave” continues the themes of self-discovery and revitalization and it urges you be adventurous and throw caution to the wind. No one ever conquered anything by idly sitting back, after all. “Sole Survivor” has positive tones and another fine chorus, which is where they pour much of their power into. “Pheonix” is the bird that rises from the ashes of his former self to become a new and youthful bird, ready to start its long life anew. The song swirls with energy and even rage, but it’s the good kind of rage that you can use as fuel. “Dream of Spring” is a slower, and more introspective sound, but that power is still there. It’s like a bolt of lightning that you can grab without harm.
“Mystery” closes the album, and it’s a tightly wound ball of fire. Like DRAGONFORCE, the band has a shit ton of talent. Unlike them however, they don’t push their musicianship as much as their songwriting. They are a well-oiled machine that fires on all cylinders in every song, and they never hold anything back. This was an outstanding album from a band that refuses to sit back and coast through their new release.
