Many modern bands have tried to bring out the true Melodic Metal sound of the sweet spot between 80s Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Glam Metal, but only few have been able to succeed like French Hard Rockers DYGITALS. They bring their 4th full length record this May and it does sound good enough to please their old fans and new listeners alike.
Frankly the sound didn't impress me the first time I listened to the album as few songs were way too slow, but on listening to it multiple times, I realize that this record has something special going on with it. Right from the IRON MAIDEN styled title track "Dynamite" to the MOTLEY CREW and SKID ROW styled love song in "Everybody Knows", everything on offer here is really nostalgic and brings out the true rockstar in every listener.
The dual lead guitar work really makes you air guitar as your neck goes headbanging along before you realize. And there is this slow rhythmic Hard Rock song "30 Years Of Rock" bringing in nostalgic lyrics as the band gives a tribute to all the famous 80s bands and musicians by giving a mention to many of them. There is no dearth of variety in this album, as for the solo freaks you got songs like "Sin City", full of juicy solos, and they are actually good too, or the Hard Rock party song in "We Wanna Live Free". It's so tempting for me to describe each and every song here because each song has so much variety and flavor in them like the faster true Heavy Metal style song in "Will You Help Me" and the beautiful lyrically friendly inspirational song like "Don't Want To Let You Down", everything on offer here is worth your time. The album takes you into different 80s bands and makes it sound fresh and relevant to the modern Metal fans.
Formed in 1984 by the vocalist Herve Traisnel, DYGITALS is one of the best modern Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal band that has managed to still stay true to its roots and are able to belt out albums which can please the old school connoisseurs. With their self-titled 4th album, they really hit the nail on the coffin as everything of offer here is a treat to old school Hard Rock and Heavy Metal fans, as the band blends melody and heaviness taking you into a nostalgic 80s trip that you will never forget.
