The White Elf
Dungeon Wolf
I am utterly amazed. I could also put it as that I am really very flabbergasted and speechless. That doesn’t happen to me very often. It’s a good thing I have to type this review, because I have to just say it; this is the worst EP I ever heard in my life. DUNGEON WOLF sounds more like People Without Talent on their “The White Elf” EP. I once wrote a review for a demo by a band in my neighbourhood called CUT THE CRAP. It went something like this: ‘if I do what the band name suggests, the only thing that is left is the guitar sound, as that is similar of that of BOSTON. If they would be so kind to move there, they wouldn’t ever have to bother me again.’ But at least those guys knew how to play their instruments. Something I can’t say of DUNGEON WOLF.
Honestly, I first thought that this was a joke by our bosses, but then I started to realise that this is in fact an actual EP. Well, let’s get down to business. The drummer has no idea what he is doing. My nine-year-old niece can put down a better beat. What a farce. Then you have the guitar parts. Every tone is put down separately. I suspect that he has had to record it that way to, because what he is does is so bad that there is no way that he is experienced at all.
As for the person using his vocal cords; you are useless. Not only can’t you sing one proper note in the 13 minutes this torture is holding up, the lyrics are way below par as well. As for the bassist, I haven’t got a clue when he is there and when not. He just tries to fill up what he can, and he is even bodging that job as well.
The funny thing is, DUNGEON WOLF have actually released two studio albums and an EP before. If they are comparable to this one, I understand why they have to release it Independent. This is so bad; I wouldn’t even dare to present this as a demo. Not even to my friends. Not even in Florida, where they are from. And yes, sometimes it is fun to listen to something really bad. Trust me, this really isn’t. “The White Elf” has been an utter waste of my time. Even the one point I am giving it is too high, really.
