DREAM CIRCUS is Rock / Modern Rock band from Portugal. I think DREAM CIRCUS wanted to restore the 90's era of Rock as their music seemed like a cool combination, a battle between old and modern. Relishing creativity, they added a vocal style that held a stereotype Rock manner in a way. However, anything that is considered new and strange is not by chance called creativity likewise any repetitious method in music is not worthless. Many great bands of the past invented a system so it will be continued by the next in line musicians for further usage and development.
In my bill DREAM CIRCUS is a tribute Rock band; their music is a praise for the great Rockers of the 80s and 90s. "Land Of Make Believe" is their full length debut and I can judge that they worked their ass off for it. The music is intelligent along with the track "Pulp Fiction" as an accolade to the film directed by Quentin Tarantino.
"Criminal" is a slow and soothing song, beginning with a kind of acoustic slow rhythm that will make lay back in your seat to relax. "Crown" and "Desire" commenced with bass and this is a rather unusual specialty in Metal bands, but they did it well. Their direction is melodic and regular, meaning that there is no disorder or total anarchism within the rhythm section. I could barely notice solos but still always listened to James Powell's chant. Here you have both comforting and slow tempo songs like "Criminal" and "Illusion" and kind of fast / raging Rock song like "Make Believe" and "Waiting". Content and lyrics theme mostly about bravery, self confidence and stuff like that. This is a release has potential, something to keep an open mind to.
