In all honesty, the new EP by the "Queen of Metal" DORO  plays more like a single. Rather than giving us a taste of a few songs that we aren't likely to see on an album, "Love's Gone To Hell", has three versions of the same song, with live versions of "Rock Till Death", which was previously released on "Raise Your Fist", and "Save My Soul", which was released almost twenty years ago on "Force Majeure".

The single "Love's Gone To Hell" gets three very similar versions - including a poor quality master of the original demo version - yet the only real differences between them seem to be the slightly varied running times. It is a good song with a great melody and Doro Pesch's fantastic raspy vocals, but it's left me feeling somewhat cheated that we don't get to hear more new songs with this EP. The best part of this is "It Still Hurts", which features Lemmy Kilmister on vocals along with Doro. While this song was also previously released on "Raise Your Fist", it's just nice that she's re-released it in the wake of Lemmy's death not long ago. It's not exactly expected for Lemmy to sound soothing and sombre, but this track shows us just what the world has lost, and I thank DORO for that.

The positive  side to the live versions of the previously released songs is that it does show us how great the band sounds live, which is becoming increasingly rare in modern music. Doro herself somehow sounds better than she ever has in these live performances. It also gives a chance to showcase the vocal powerhouse that is Hansi Kursch from BLIND GUARDIAN.

Truly, the individual tracks on this EP are actually quite good. Yet we have seen them all before, aside from the title track - which is honestly overused with such little variety between the versions. The radio version would have been better served as a bonus track on a new album - should we get one - and it'd be for the best if the demo version was discarded or completely re-recorded all together. You can't ever say that Doro has lost her touch as a performer, or a writer of fantastic music, it's just a shame that she didn't showcase more original material here.
