Doro - Forever Warriors album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: DORO; signed via the mighty Nuclear Blast Records, hailing from the glory of Germany - performing Heavy Metal, on their 13th album entitled: "Forever Warriors, Forever United" (released August 17th, 2018).

Since formation in 1989; the quintet in question have 12 albums in their discography so far, I am introduced to their 13th album entitled: "Forever Warriors, Forever United". 10 tracks ranging at around 39:66; I will be covering the first disc of this 2 Disc record with Disc 1 being "Forever Warriors", and Disc 2 being "Forever United" (which will be covered in a seperate review). DORO are infamous for their ambitious devotion to the Heavy Metal landscape; some may consider them cheesy or clichè with their MANOWAR-esquire lyricism, while others may enjoy them for their heavy-hitting instrumentation. "All For Metal" begins the disc, demonstrating distinctive catchiness with groovy diligence that conveys songwriting with sonically memorable manifestations.

Consisting of Doro Pesch on vocals; the frontman consistently executes clean singing stability with constructively distinguished results. "Bastardos" distributes radio-friendly finesse, while the musicianship is meticulous and proficient – the band arrange an intricately designed development of enlightening pipes and positively upbeat tempos which establishes a fun-fuelled listen, nothing particularly extreme here though. The most standout track here is "If I Can Have You - No One Will" featuring the mighty Johan Hegg from AMON AMARTH who does this song better justice with his prominently vehement guttural grunts and growls that are profusely robust and savage. My only problem with the track, is the cringy lyrics that embellish on a person's love to them in which is overly too dramatic for me.

The aesthetic injected here is drama, especially in the next song: "Soldier Of Metal" - an anthem that has similar characteristics to MANOWAR's "Heart Of Steel". Bas Maas on guitar however provides thunderous riffs and solos that make up for the expressive formula; "Turn It Up" is a track I feel like I have heard a dozen times before, while battering and boistrous - it is another stereotypical song which still contrasts with captivating complexity and efficiently blistering dexterity. Nick Douglas on the powerhouse bass showcases an audibly organic substance that pummels with unique results. "Blood, Sweat And Rock 'n' Roll" portrays pulverizing punchline grooves from drummer Johnny Dee, orchestrating bouncy crunchiness and concrete grit - still the same old, unsurprising song though.

"Don't Break My Heart Again" goes back to the previous spectacle; as Luca Princiotta on guitars/keyboards provides elegantly composed contributions, attributing efficacious harmonies and hymns while chugging and galloping his strings with relentlessly polished precision. "Love's Gone To Hell" brings back the borderline foundation of jumpy fluidity, polished with rapidly swift nimbleness and frolicking adroitness. "Freunde Fürs Leben" (Friends For Life in German) is another ballad, with the silver lining seemingly crafted with German vocals and forged with raw and rough salubriousness – DORO exquisitely amplify with electrical doses of metal; while typical in the sub-genre, they still execute with riveting dynamics.

Overall concluding "Forever Warriors" with the finale track: "Backstage To Heaven" which probably has the most diversity of rocking chaos, DORO certainly outdone themselves with this one - while musically corny and generic they still generate an enjoyably entertaining experience. Keep a look out for "Forever United" in a seperate review.<
