I set my first sight and ears on Alternative Rock quartet DOMMIN back in 2010 when they supported Finnish Goth Rockers HIM; I was drawn into their music from the word go. Their profound songs such as "My Heart, Your Hands", "Dark Holiday" and "Closure" from their album "Love Is Gone" was referred to the voice of the broken hearted, the music is completely relatable to anyone.  After a five year hiatus DOMMIN have released their latest album "Rise" and it brings just as much power, if not more.

For those who don't know, DOMMIN are an Alternative Rock quartet from the East Valley of Los Angeles, California; the origins of this quartet can be dated back to 2000 where enigmatic frontman Kristopher Dommin released demos. The band really took form when bassist Billy James joined in 2002, key-master Konstantine joining in 2006 and drum master Cameron Davis joining in 2008. Their 2010 release "Love Is Gone" delves into the complexity of difficult relationships and damaged psyches. They have toured with the likes of VOLBEAT, BLACK VEIL BRIDES and THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE.

Onto their album "Rise"; the first thing I notice is the unmistakeably beautiful vocal work from front-man Kristopher Dommin, reminding me of a gothic ELVIS PRESLEY. This album seems a little more uplifting than "Love Is Gone"; I think this really works in DOMMIN's favour as it still showcases their dark, reflective lyrics about intricate relationships and broken hearts. This album contains many emphasises within their material; the upbeat rhythms and major tones in the arrangements work marvellously when showcasing their lyrics about the sorrowful truths about broken hearts and complex relationships. The best examples of this are heard in the songs "Manipulator Girl", "The Girls" and "Falling Into The Ashes".

For long time fans of DOMMIN this instalment will show them that even with a slight development the unmistakeable sound that makes them unique has not left us, since this was funded by their loyal fanbase I can confirm they are getting more than their money's worth.  For those wanting to try something new and exciting then purchase "Rise".
