Domination Inc. - Memoir 414 album cover

The Metal scene of Greece became worldly known due to Black Metal acts in the 90's, namely ROTTING CHRIST, NECROMANTIA and VARATHRON. Back then, none could think that Greek Metal scene could become so rich; especially on Thrash Metal (maybe the commercial success of SUICIDAL ANGELS could explain the great numbers of Thrash Metal bands from the country). And DOMINATION INC. is another good name from the country, and they show their talent on their second album, "Memoir 414".

Mixing the traditional ways from the 80's (using aspects from North American and German schools), but using a modern outfit that makes their music sounds even more aggressive than it could be if they were cloning the 80's. It would not be a sin to compare their musical work with names as EXODUS due the good technical level, but brutalizing the ears with a furious musical work like drilling machine. Yes, it's truly has a destructive energy, but they use good melodies as well (hear the guitar solos to have a clear idea of it). The production of "Memoir 414" is very good, besides it's not perfect. Obviously the band can be understood (evidence that they worried to sound clean and defined), the instrumental tunes are very good, but it could be better in some ways, because the sound has a "crude" stench too evident in some moments. It's very good, but could be perfect.

Musically, they show that have potential to struggle for their place in the Thrash Metal scene in the entire world. The fast and destructive fury of "Cutting Edge" (excellent guitars, with great riffs and melodic solos), the long and rich in rhythmic changes "Day VIII Deus' Ignorance" (bass guitar and drums are showing an excellent heavy and technical work on this song), the oppressive brutality of "Dark City", that old and good set of blast beats moments of "Dehumanized", and the solid harmonies shown on "Culling" (excellent screamed grunts) are the best shots of the quintet. But their version for MOTÖRHEAD's "Love Me Forever" is really excellent,

They're not playing anything new at all, but "Memoir 414" is good enough to see DOMINATION INC. as a new spearhead of the Greek Thrash Metal scene.
