DOLORANGST is a new Atmospheric Black Metal band based out of Russia. Formed in 2019, and composed by one man, "Катастрофа Внутри" is his debut release, and contains five tracks. "Пробуждение" is the opening track. It opens with a little clean guitar melody before the drums start in double time. The Black Metal vocals then come into play, but over an alluring bed of piano notes. It takes a brief pause around the half way mark, then comes back with a slightly different melody. This is very pretty music, and minus the Black Metal vocals, it's deep emotional impact can really be felt. "Эшафот" is close to eight minutes in length. Clean guitars and steady, smooth drumming open the song, before a long scream comes in. Its charm can be felt in the melancholy sound that he pushes with ambient keys.

"Катастрофа внутри" opens with solemn clean guitar notes, and quiet, spoken vocals. It is really quite sad and beautiful, like visiting the grave of a loved on a cold morning late in the fall. It picks up in pace and fervor when the harsh vocals come in, but those clean guitar notes ring out like bells in a place where music isn't permitted to be heard. He augments the sound with piano notes. "Этот дождь когда-нибудь закончится" is a short two-minute piano piece, that focuses on a sad melody. "Надежда" is a bonus instrumental song. In keeping with the theme of the album, it boasts pretty little melodies that reminds me of THE CURE in some ways.

Overall, I was quite pleased with the album. Roman is very good at provoking emotions in his music, with dark and solemn tones tempered with bright notes at times. He mixes them effortlessly, and although the album was only five songs, it left an indelible mark on me. I think this is guy to keep an eye on for the future for sure.
