Djinn And Miskatonic - Forever In The Realm album cover

Hailing from the dark, hardened areas of India a doom/gloom band was born by the name of DJINN AND MISKATONIC. The band announces themselves as Death / Doom Metal, bass driven slow music and they are correct in saying so.

These guys will definitely remind you of those eighties bands where you played the album backwards and allegedly listened to spells from some book of Hades or what have you. Yeah, that kind of vibe.

The actual music itself is really not that bad, they pull of some nice riffs and have a nice tone in the sound but it never really takes off and makes you sit up and take notice. What had me on the edge of giggling are the lyrics and the way they are delivered. In my head I see a few kids in a blacked out basement, candles lit, and some bad robes on trying to conjure up the spirits of death. There are only five listed songs and "Voice From The Tomb" comes straight from a bad B-horror flick. "7 Year Witch" actually begins with what sounds like one of those kids in the basement reading from some obscure book of spells as a warning I think. The band kicks in as he reads with a promising riff and tones but they never really do go anywhere. "Book Of The Fallen" sounds like it comes directly from the last song, so I'm not sure if this is supposed to be one continuous story or what but the voice delivers in some spell-master style that had me laughing. Sorry.

Honestly, there is some potential here but more seasoning is needed. I do give them an 'A' for effort and hell, some 13-14 year old into all that like we were once just may snatch this right up.
