What Will Be Left

Yet another metalcore band has emerged with their debut album "What Will Be Left". DISCLARITY don't do a whole lot to set themselves apart from the masses, but what they do, they do well. The album blends the right amount of power and melody, and as a result is what metalcore sets out to be.
However in an overcrowded genre with so many bands that do so little to be special, DISCLARITY seems that it become lost in the crowd. It's a shame because "What Will Be Left" is by no means a bad album. It just isn't exactly special. The vocals are powerful but kind of...grating. The music itself is decent, although extremely typical for the genre with fairly simple choppy guitar, uneven blasting drums, and predictable bass. It's the sound that they were going for so I suppose it works. "Light Dies" stands out a little from the rest, and seems the most suited to being a single and bringing in fans of the genre. It has a decent hook, and the production values of the album really shine here.
I can't help but feel like DISCLARITY has potential. If they could mix things up a bit and have more clean vocals, it would work well with the polished and melodic music. The constant screaming feels unnecessary and out of place at times. There are definitely things about this album that are done right. The music is good for what it is, the production is fantastic, and the song writing is fairly good. They just need a bit of variety to their style and delivery. With that done, DISCLARITY really could make a name for themselves in their own scene.
I'm not going to pass too much judgement here, as I honestly think that DISCLARITY does have their place. It will be hard to find it in their genre, but it's possible that if we ever get a second album, it will help to place them. "What Will Be Left" is a good effort as a debut album, and shows off a decent amount of musical prowess. Those who are well in to metalcore may flock towards them, but I still think that for this to happen, they need to show us something special first.
