DIRE PERIL is a Heavy Metal band from Citrus Heights, California. The band have just released their latest EP titled "Through Time And Space". DIRE PERIL are putting their latest EP out via Dead Inside Records.

The first track off of DIRE PERIL's newest EP is titled "Evolution's Failed Design". It begins with a loud, heavy drumbeat before breaking into song about how we were born into this world of slaves, and how we are controlled by nature. Despite the song's Darwinian-themed lyrics of evolution being a failed disgrace, and humanity simply being a byproduct of that failure, the band matches their grim message of the human race's inadequacy with skull-crushing drumbeats and driving guitar riffs.

The second track titled "What Mystery Awaits" nice contrasts against the first song of the EP, as this song is lot "lighter" with a slow guitar intro before breaking out into a song about the mysteries that await us in this human life. This track sends a powerful message about how life often changes, and rarely do things stay the same for long. Goodbyes are part of life, and we have to learn to accept that. There are mysteries that await in our futures, and none of us really know what those mysteries might be.

The third track is the title track of the EP, aptly named "Through Time And Space". This is another slower introduction as a slow guitar solo begins the song, and then breaks out into song about how no longer even the starts comfort him in his lonely world. If he doesn't have the one he loves in life, it's like living through time and space. Just trying to get by on his own. These are soulful lyrics that remind us how much human loss and suffering in life can really hurt. We have all experienced it, or surely will at some point. This is a very real reminder of the pain that comes with that loss that is experienced in life.

The fourth and final track titled "Transformations" begins with a chant of "Transformers" before talking about the demons that watch over humanity from the skies. Humanity will have to get better in the future, and improve how we treat each other if we want the human race to survive in this ever-changing world. Right now, humanity is downright mean and disgraceful, and that won't cut it if we want to survive into the future generations without bringing about our very own destruction.

DIRE PERIL's latest EP is overall an excellent mix of hard-hitting Heavy Metal, and a more Melodic form of Metal. It's powerful lyrics discuss all topics from dangerous evolution to human slavery to how we must change our behaviors to survive into the future, and all the way back again. The content is dark, and speaks of the DIRE PERIL humanity is in if we do not change our ways towards ourselves, and towards each other. It may not all be rose-petals and flowers, but a lot of it is the truth. If humanity cannot change how we act towards each other, our future demise may be even more grim than what DIRE PERIL are willing to admit. This release is both music to the ears for a Heavy Metal fan, and food for the human soul.
