Diemonds - Never Wanna Die album cover

What comes to mind when you think of Canada and Rock/Metal music? Some of you may have been thinking the two have no connection, but you'd be surprised as some big bands have come from that country. ANVIL, CONEY HATCH, RUSH and PRIESTESS are just a few of those names but there's one more that I've yet to mention and they are a band from Toronto who have recently released their second full length studio album to the world and their name is DIEMONDS.

Formed in 2006 in Toronto Canada, this quintet of Hard Rock musicians released their first EP "In The Rough" in 2008 before going out on tour across Canada and the USA with the likes of L.A. GUNS, FASTER PUSSYCAT, TEENAGE HEAD, ROUGH TRADE and SEMI PRECIOUS WEAPONS. In 2012, they released their debut studio album "The Bad Pack" before going back on tour to support the album. Over the next few years that followed, the band toured relentlessly playing with the likes of SLASH, STEEL PANTHER, SEBASTIAN BACH and most recently KISS.

After a 3 year wait, the time has come for DIEMONDS to release their second studio album "Never Wanna Die" and I'm here to review it and see what this female fronted Canadian Hard Rock band has been able to create.

Clocking in at around 37 minutes long, the second album from DIEMONDS is 10 tracks of heavy ass kicking Hard Rock tunes packed with heavy guitar riffs, pounding drum beats and one energetic vocal performance to boot. Starting off with the title track "Never Wanna Die", this tune alone gives you a taster of the bands new songs or indeed their sound if you are new to them as you are immediately kicked in the balls with heavy guitar riffs, pounding beats and one amazingly powerful punchy vocal performance.

The next two tracks "Hell Is Full" and "Over It" follow the same formula as the opening title track as these too are filled with heavy punchy riffs, pounding beats, melodies and vocals that are guaranteed to kick your ass so hard, you'll want to come back for more every single time. The fourth track "Ain't That Kinda Girl" is what you call an anthem as it's the type of song you just have to play at a rock show as the verses are filled with one fast vocal melody as well as heavy guitar riffs and drumbeats to accompany it which ends up resulting in one heavy enjoyable ass kicking anthem.

The halfway point track "Secret" has a little bit of a slower pace then the previous four songs but it still rocks hard with it's heavy guitar riffs and punchy vocals. The next track "Better Off Dead" and "Forever Untamed" picks up the pace a bit to deliver a fast paced punchy performance full of heavy guitar melodies, punchy vocals and drums that kick you in the balls with every beat.

"Wild At Heart" is yet another one of those Rock anthems that is always guaranteed to get those horns up, heads banging and the blood of the fans pumping at concerts thanks to it's energetic guitar riffs and punchy vocals that are in a class of their own. "Meet Your Maker" is probably the fastest song on this album in terms of guitar riffs, drumbeats and also vocals too and all of these come together to deliver one catchy Rock tune that will always be guaranteed to get your blood pumping with excitement every time you hear it. The final track "Save Your Life" is a great way to end this album as it has a Classic Rock vibe to it while still sounding modern with punchy melodies from the guitars and drums as well as the energetic vocals.

I think the explanations about the songs is enough to give you an idea of what this album is like, but I'll quickly sum it all up by saying that every little aspect that went into this album sounds nothing short of amazing, and it's also a joy to listen to. Every time you hit that play button, both your body and your ears are treated to some enjoyable and energetic heavy hitting Hard Rock songs that will leave you buzzing and wanting more every single time. This is all thanks to the heavy guitar riffs, the insane solos, the pounding drums that kick you in the balls with every beat and of course the vocal performance which is powerful, punchy and energetic.

Aside from the great songs and performance from the band, the production on this album is also pretty damn excellent as each song has been fine tuned to capture the heavy signature Hard Rock sound that the genre is so well known for while also capturing the bands own unique style of rocking hard, kicking ass and having fun in the process meaning that you always get to enjoy the songs every time you hear them.

Bottom line, the new album from DIEMONDS is quite possibly one of the finest and best Hard Rock releases I have heard so far in 2015 and unless anything else can come along and beat it, this album is a very strong contender for my end of year top 10 list - but will it make it? I sure hope it does as it's nothing short of excellent so make sure you pick this up, crank it loud and get those horns up so you too can see for yourself how good this is.
