DIANE & THE DEDUCTIBLES is a five-piece Blues/Rock band featuring Diane Adams on vocals and rhythm guitars. Around her is an all-star ensemble that includes former members of legendary bands such as AIR SUPPLY, HURRICANE, and RIVERDOGS. Bringing a folk vibe and sensibility to the table, they have created a unique blend of music. Their latest album, "6 Feet Apart," was released on February 1, 2021, via DRAIA Productions.

The album opens with "Let's Live," an anthemic tune meant to encourage the listener to live while you're alive. Don't wait, take the chances now. The opening guitar tones are not too heavy and transition smoothly into the main riff. Having the lead and rhythm guitars in different channels gives a bit of a polarized sound, giving the impression of space between the two players rather than having everything in both ears simultaneously.

"Say What You Mean" has a bit of funk in the beat. Their mix is solid, giving you enough bass and drums to hear them clearly, letting the listener hear everything without having to strain to hear it. The guitar work is again in two channels and has two separate patterns to them, using complementary, but disparate phrases. This song has a little guitar flair at the end just prior to the fade out that is fun to hear.

Shifting gears, "Hold On" has an ethereal opening, using delicate tones from the guitars and bass to underscore the lower range vocal delivery from Diane. The vocals offer pain and the desire to go on despite knowing it will take perseverance and determination.

Going heavier than most songs, "Big Airline" has one of the better guitar riffs for the Hard Rock lovers. The pace of the whole song seems to be faster, heavier, rougher. There are more distorted guitar tones, and the drums seem to hit a little harder, though that is probably illusion. The bass is again rock solid, holding the tempo beautifully. You also get some of your best vocal harmonies in this song, with what sounds like the entire band getting their voices together for some killer noise.

The album concludes with "Winner," a song that has some interesting swings in tempo. This is the shortest song on the record at just under four minutes, but packs in plenty of music. The vocals have some good warble and the harmonies in the background are very good.

This is a solid album. It flows well and has really good consistency, never trying to go to far to any extreme. You get little bits of shreddy guitar work, but they don't run away from the rhythm. The bass and drums are always right in the pocket, fitting in exactly where they should be. This album could play anywhere from Classic Rock to Alternative radio stations or even a college radio station. It has a diversity and feel that fits in many different arenas. It's a good listen for those who like to relax and enjoy some peace and cool vibes.
