Hello Temple, today I bring you the album "Silvër Horizon" by DIABLO. This Finnish Symphonic Death Metal band really hit the spot with this new album. This is their sixth album since their debut in the late 1990s. Since I wasn't aware of this band prior to this review, I can't compare this album to their previous ones. But I can tell you this, it rocks.

Rainer's voice has a large range of rugged and deep sound. I have to say that it had to grow on me on the first 2 songs, but as soon as I got used to it, I really started enjoying his tone a lot more. On the musical side, nothing negative to say at all. The melody is addictive and the sound is very well recorded.

Let's start from the beginning. "The Call" opens up really well, right away you can feel the type of sound you'll get throughout the album. It is a fast melodic sound with rugged vocals, which reminds me a lot of IN FLAMES and some DARK TRANQUILITY. It is followed by "Isolation", with a heavier guitar sound, and Rainer cleans up his voice a bit on most of this song. Again the melody is the centre of this piece. Every note of this album seems to have been thoroughly researched.

"The Serpent Holder" starts off a bit slower than the other songs, but it really blooms into another huge melodic piece. I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot here, but if I would give one word to illustrate to you the whole album, it would be Melody. "Into The Void" doesn't differ from this. Especially the guitar track on this song is exquisite.

When I got to "Prince Of The Machine", I was literally blown away by the alluring melody and deep emotion. This song and "Corium Black" are really my two favourites of this album.

Rainer was an acquired taste to start with, but now I feel like this album wouldn't work without him. He makes the band stand out from the crowd. It was probably his influence from IN FLAMES that gave him this sound.

I started by giving a 6 out of 10 on this album on my first run through. After 2-3 loops, I had to raise it to 8. Please give it more than one try; it will grow on you if it doesn't hit on the first listen. I definitely recommend DIABLO to any Melodic Death Metal fans out there.
