Magiser Mundi Xum

DEVIL is a Heavy / Doom Rock band formed in 2009 in Norway. They were inactive for one year after their formation, after that, in 2011 they released demos and now they unleashed "Magister-Mundi-Xum", which is the reissue and remastering of the band's debut demo release with additional newer material.
The album's intro features a man riding a horse on a rainy night. When the man reached his destination, which is probably a kind of place like church or something, a bell starts chiming, the man opens a door and says: "Good evening, I guess you've come to see the devil?!" Then hails "At The Blacksmitht's", which starts with a devilish laughing right after finishing of the previous echo, which felt really amazing and exciting. So this is how album starts only to make you expect something that is straight from hell, well this is nothing that I expected really.
For me I found "Spirit Of The Cult" as the weakest song on this album. The vocalist is singing in a slow tempo and a weak voice. I believe that it also needs a faster and more solid guitar. Yet, it seems that it has a low quality sound instead, and that is something for the production crew to handle. "Time To Repent" is more melodic than the other songs and it felt upright when you expect the frontman to say time to repent .. It's a repetitive chorus all the way but it is rather cool.
The lyrics basically introduce a kind of a devilish cult they believe in but not Satanism. This band shares the appearances and have some historical and women oriented themes. And at last if you want to know what DEVIL is all about, I will provide you a pattern of two giant bands that influenced this group the most. You will notice that DEVIL attempted to imitate these two, PENTAGRAM & BLACK SABBATH., it's their own statement not my interpretation.
