Devast - Into Decimated Reality album cover

Well, there's good news and there's bad news. The bad news is that this album is dreadful. The good news is that if you enjoy having bleeding ears, you'll probably love it.

The simplest way to describe the record is as a wall of horrendous noise assaulting your ears with no apparent intention of stopping. Each track is practically identical to the last, shows no evidence of imagination or creativity, and carries no semblance of a tune or other evidence that the band are trying to create music.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand that this is technically part of a genre and that an unbiased point of view must be taken to properly review it. I have to put myself in the mind-set of someone who listens to similar music, and I must do the same for all albums I review. But a line must be drawn somewhere where we can say, "that there is bad music. Let's not listen to that." It's quite possible that this line exists in the sound of "Into Decimated Reality".

I don't even feel inclined to describe or criticise individual songs, since they're all so mind-numbingly similar and painful to listen to. The morbid song titles are not indicative of a sombre lyrical tone, since there are no audible lyrics anyway and even the music itself is so repetitive that it conveys little emotion or feeling. Unless your music tastes are questionably niche, the recommendation is that you steer well clear of this thing.
