Devangelic - Ersetu album cover

DEVANGELIC is a 4-Piece Brutal Death Metal band from Rome, Lazio, Italy. This is the third full-length album and first since 2017. They were founded back in 2012 and this is the first album with Alessio Pacifici on the Bass. He replaces the departing Damiano Bracci that was the main Bass player on ''Phlegethon''.

They definitely speak out against religion and other religious groups on this opus. Even though you don't really understand the lyrics but when you get to read them, it's a damn loud and proud message that's for sure. It's sure as hell difficult to follow with the lyrics because it's so fast paced no less. The vocals just fit the mood to a T. You can obviously hear the influences of bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, MALEVOLENT CREATION amongst countless others. The tempo of the songs, the vocal stylings and the whole structure of the songs are quite reminiscent of these bands.

You can just lay back and enjoy the ride. This is as Brutal as a Death Metal band can be. They pull no punches, grabs you by the throat and never lets go. It's an unrelenting thirty minutes of intensity yet you can feel the passion of the band. They seem to just go for it and the sheer brutality is at each corner of each and every song. They basically did the groundwork on something that won't reinvent the wheel but it's going to make you feel good. You have that sudden urge to headbang and it's going to raise your heartrate in a millisecond.

You have that authentic essence of the genre flowing through the veins of the band and this is a short yet entertaining album. You do actually have some very accomplished musicians on this opus and their obvious devotion to their craft. The album's length of songs is evenly recorded and there is some really impressive balance. You have a very energetic vocalist mixed in with the frantic pace of the music and it meshes extremely well. This album really reminded me of ''The Bleeding'' by CANNIBAL CORPSE and it's a real throwback to those legends.
