Staged In Awaiting
Deus Invictus

You've got to be fucking kidding me! This is the third Metal band with Christian themes I come across this week! What the fuck is wrong? I guess STRYPER were enough, but now things are going out of control! Hyper technical Death Metal with Christian lyrics and a record label that claims it exists to serve the purpose of Jesus Christ?
It is a mad world for sure, but let's get down to business. DEUS INVICTUS originates from Atlanta, Georgia, USA and was formed in 2005 by Jeff Carter (ex THE CHARIOT) and David Hopper. Five years later the band has completed its line up and it is ready to unleash its first ever full-length work and show that God digs technical Death Metal!
With crazy tempo changes and sharp riffs, the US based band presents its debut album "Staged In Awaiting" and isn't afraid of revealing its strong ATHEIST influences. The fact is that the band somehow loses it many times, since they exaggerate with their use of technique, making "Staged In Awaiting" sound really tiring at many parts. They also have their catchy moments of course, which don't let the album sound monotonous. DEUS INVICTUS' debut album also features a really strong and crystal clear sound, since it was mixed and mastered at Erik Rutan's Mana Studios. Let me remind you that Rutan has played in bands like MORBID ANGEL and HATE ETERNAL. You can make your own conclusions...
Anyway, DEUS INVICTUS and their debut release "Staged In Awaiting" are not bad, not all. This album is actually a good sample of technical Death Metal and if the band manages to hold back its constant tempo changes and guitar sweeps, they could earn some extra fans.
