Guess who's back! Fall on your knees because the mad butcher is here once again to spread the seed of terror! It seems that no mercy will be shown so just bow before the gods of Thrash Metal! The destructive trio thought that a best of compilation would be a really cool idea. They also thought of a good way to make this compilation much more interesting! You know what, who am I to disagree with them? Let's fucking break our necks while headbanging!
What? Did I hear someone asking who these guys are? Don't tell me you need to read their biography! Seriously, if anyone of you doesn't know DESTRUCTION, he should really reconsider his taste in music. Anyway, I'll mention just some basic stuff. Formed in 1982, DESTRUCTION quickly managed to become one of the top Thrash bands from Germany, along with SODOM and KREATOR. Every single album this band released seems like a Thrash diamond that MUST be in every Thrash Metal CD/vinyl collection. Having loyally served the Thrash Metal scene for 25 years now, DESTRUCTION are still trying to convince us that they are still original and heavy as fuck. The fact is that we know this since the release of their debut album, Infernal Overkill in 1985 (Sentence Of Death (1984) is an EP release so it can't be considered as a debut album).
Back to the compilation now. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, DESTRUCTION tried to make the best of a bit more spicy adding some really cool stuff in it. There are two things that make this release special. First of all, it is not a simple best of compilation. The tracks that are included in here have been re-recorded, even the tracks that never featured Schmier on vocals have been re-recorded with him doing the vocals! The other interesting thing is that the release contains two brand new tracks, Profanity and Deposition (Your Heads Will Roll). Profanity is a classic old school DESTRUCTION song! Incredible riffing, relentless drumming and their well-known speed mania! Deposition (Your Heads Will Roll) is a more mid tempo song, characterized by its heaviness and the classic mind blowing DESTRUCTION riffing. While listening to the 15 tracks of this release, I was thinking that especially today that the Metal scene is full of crappy releases and bands that are more careful regarding their image leaving their music behind, DESTRUCTION seem like an original Heavy Metal warrior, standing right in the middle, trying to teach how should Metal be played! This band has managed to define the word aggressiveness! I see some stupid guys that try to look and sound evil and brutal, and when I listen to DESTRUCTION I only realize that they are funnier than I thought! The German trio always sounded original, pure, but never retro. When most bands have sold out or tried to approach Thrash in a more modern way, DESTRUCTION sounded pure and fresh at the same time, waving the flag of Heavy Metal so high, so that everyone can see it!
Nothing more to comment on the gods of Thrash Metal! I think that most of you already know what you have to do! I will just keep on headbanging under the influence of my favourite drug, DESTRUCTION! Even if some modern metallers feel uncomfortable, THIS IS PURE METAL FUCKERS!
