In case you have been living under a rock and have never heard of DESTRUCTION, they are one of the "Big Four" of Teutonic Thrash from Germany, along with KREATOR, SODOM, and TANKARD. In 1984, they recorded their first demo, "Bestial Invasion From Hell," which has now been reissued and remastered.  The band was ahead of its time and these six songs have aged very well.  As far as thrash metal goes, it doesn't get much more raw and brutal than this.  With just six songs, it definitely doesn't wear out its welcome but instead provides a lighting fast look at the burgeoning thrash scene.  The remastering job is pretty good-it still sounds raw (in a good way, of course) but the sound isn't as puny...definitely sounds a lot more full.  The promo I received was a vinyl rip so I can't be sure if the CD version sounds the same but I would imagine it sounds decent as well.

"Mad Butcher," starts the song off with Mike's power and speedy riffs and vocalist Schmier's bass, which is very prominent in the mix and just as important to the songs as the guitar.  Vocally, he sounds like most thrash singers: nothing fancy but with a good gruff speaking bark.  When it comes to Thrash, however, it is the music that speaks the most volume. This early example of the days to come definitely retains a very Punk Rock feel to the music but it does so without compromising the edge and grit that has come to define Thrash, because of releases just like this.  DESTRUCTION are at their best on this demo when they just let go of everything and thrash the fuck out.  The segment between 1:12 and 2:30 is one of the finest (and most furious) examples of Thrash Metal I can think of.
   
Tommy Sandmann's drums are appropriately loaded with an uncanny sense of speed and energy; the frantic nature of the drums really compliments and rounds out this furious Thrash Metal classic. "Front Beast," is an exercise in how to make a ripping track under two minutes.  The song is loaded top tier aggression and some truly kick ass guitar work and the ending where the drums and bass dual briefly is outstanding. The final track, "Tormenter," is one beast of a song, a nonstop battering ram of tightly played riffs, adventurous bass, and pummeling drums.  If someone asked me for a good example of Thrash, I'd definitely play them this track.

DESTRUCTION's "Bestial Invasion From Hell," is a Thrash Metal classic that no fan of this style should miss. If you are into a lot of the American Thrash bands and for whatever reason don't know the German side of the sing, you owe it to yourself to add this to your get list.
