Music For Muscle Cars
Destroy She Said

With a stout overdrive sound and an irreconcilable name such as DESTROY SHE SAID, this band brings their EP "Music For Muscle Cars" straight from Australia.
I am sorry but this one didn't hook me up. The only highlight here is the singer that reminded me little bit of Angry Anderson from ROSE TATTOO and KROKUS but it stopped there. Yes it's Hard Rock but the music is too simple, not that there aren't bands today that does great uncomplicated Hard Rock, such as BULLET, but I didn't feel any interest or something that will excite me in their music. It's like the feeling of "already heard that before" and there is nothing new here that will blow me a way especially on the first half of the EP.
"Drivin' Machine" is the opening song where the opening guitar riff, which is also evident on the chorus, has power but the main disadvantage is that DESTROY SHE SAID repeat it over and over until it virtually loses its magic with no furthermore contribution to the song. "Fanta Pants" represents a powerful anger, but yet it doesn't have the spark that will catch you. There isn't something from it that I can remember after listening. It just passed me by.
The change begins only in the second half, with the song "Squirter". This one has the Rock N' Roll drive, yet it doesn't have what it takes to become a hit. The song just recycles itself without any point. Through this song I felt the driven Rock N' Roll known from AC/DC but with the addition of some sophistication behind each riff. "Game Over" is there best track. It has energy that was missed in the other songs, it made me curious due to its development into a catchy and memorable chorus.
The singer is the strongest element in the band and it's too bad because DESTROY SHE SAID could have created something that would catch the ear like their 4th song. I really hope that on their next release they will make a change and the faster the better.
