Desecrate The Faith - Unholy Infestation album cover

Comatose Music has been known for delivering the heaviest Brutal Death Metal out there. Varying from Death Metal to Slam, or just regular Brutal Death, they also don't fear to release some decent Grindcore too. There are many releases I have adored and known for a while now, with too many names to count, but here some of my personal favorites include: ANTROPOFAGUS, BLASPHEMER, DEHUMANIZED and CEREBRAL EXTINCTION.
The label had its start in 2001, and it has been loyal to the nasty sub-genres since then. Now, we have a new release by the incredible label and it is a full-length record of 12 tracks by the name of "Unholy Infestation"; and the band that released this album on March 3rd this year is DESECRATE THE FAITH.

Taking a quick and sharp look at the track listing, it was obvious what the lyrical themes would be about. This is a classic anti-Christian band, but let's leave that aside, since what interests me is the music. The Houston, Texas-based band was formed in 2012 and so far they have released a demo in 2013, their debut "Disfigured Arrangement" in 2014, and the new album "Unholy Infestation" in early 2017.

The record starts off with "Daemones Nos Ave Satanas", which begins with some bizarre noises; but it's an "okay" intro track, in my opinion. The drums slowly fade in, the riffs follow, and everything gets louder and louder to a point where everything levels out and the vocals start to dominate the overall atmosphere. There are classic Brutal Death Metal growls and a lot of Slamming Brutal Death Metal influences - basically a heavy, slow-pitched atmosphere.

"Predatory Impalement" is slightly different from the previous track, and much, much faster. Here you have the blast-beat drumming, the varying vocals and the heavy and massive riffs - I love this track way more because it kind of distinguishes from the new school of this sub-genre, and focuses a bit more on the old-school sound, precisely on the era when it was being born.

Hearing a few SUFFOCATION influences here, which isn't a weird thing being that many people cite them as the creators of the genre but mostly because of one simple riff - and I can't disagree; still, I love this track. It's slightly old-school but just perfect and how I like it.

These two songs are just teasers, but believe me, the album has even better songs. Go find it out for yourself!
