DEPRESSED MODE was founded as a solo project of Ossy Salonen in late 2005. After some research for persons to share his music visions, came Tamppa in guitars, Natalie in female vocals and  Marko in drums. In Ghosts of Devotion we can hear atmospheric death metal. Some will disagree with that and maybe their music will be characterized as 'doom' or 'death doom', but my opinion is that this music has nothing to do with doom; at least as i know it.
Total slow, pessimistic, based upon keys and vocals; guitars have a complete accompanying role, just to fill the background, or like the basic color behind the details of a painting. This has the consequence of the listening of this album becoming difficult and boring. In all songs I hear keys, piano, and death vocals with some female in some parts. The result of all these is the closure of my eyelids and falling into the abyssal hands of sleep. Their attempt to cover BURZUM's Dunkelheit  is judged as satisfying, although it's very difficult to catch the feeling and the psychology of this song. The vocals remind me the mighty cover of REVEREND BIZARRE. I guess they must have heard it.
This album is neither bad nor good. Surely, the pessimistic disposals of some people will overgrow while they hear it plus the cover (which is good) helps it. As I can remember, at the middle of the 90s there were enough listening to that style, with a plenty of groups like them. Now, where did all these go? I don't know. Maybe some of them committed suicide and the others found a pussy to screw. Anyway, forget my ironic mood ( some bands are great, like MY DYING BRIDE) but I can't forget the ultimate garbage that was for sale at music stores. Hopefully, these guys are better.
