Unholy Trinity
Denial of Death

There's an idea that is said by many: that multicultural views mixed into music can generate new ways. Of course, some puritans that keep the idea that 'the purest form is the better', but if we think strictly about Metal, such idea makes no sense at all, as Metal is a mix between many different musical elements. And to mix things isn't a sin, it's a quality that only those who are courageous can do. And it is done in a mature way on "Unholy Trinity", the first EP of the one man band DENIAL OF DEATH.
The work done by Glauber is a mix between aspects from Death Metal and Black Metal, but with a clear influence from the Brazilian School (once he is a Brazilian that lives in Germany, especially on the approach used on the guitars), mixed with clear influences from Norwegian and Greek Black/Death Metal Schools. It's brutal and aggressive, but with a horror-like ambience (created by the keyboards) that is a natural feature from Black Metal played in Brazil. It's a hybrid, and it's very good. Glauber produced the songs, so all the cultural/musical load of Brazil appears in many parts, because the sonority is brutal and aggressive, but focusing on an atmospheric way. The guitars could be a little higher, but things aren't bad. It's good, indeed.
"Spiritual Oppression" is fast and brutal, but with some not so extreme parts that creates a set of very good contrasts (especially on the rhythms), the same happening on "Tempus Fugit" (but into a more atmospheric way similar to EMPEROR's "In the Nightside Eclipse" days due the horror-like keyboards). On "Unholy Trinity", the speed decreases, focusing in a morbid and funereal set of ambiences, with very good vocals (grunts and snarling tunes are presented), and even with some clean guitars. And "The Day of Revenge" is a storm of very good guitar riffs entwined by keyboards that sharpens things into a funereal set of ambiences. Yes, it's truly very good.
For now, DENIAL OF DEATH shows potential to be a driving and leading force in the genre, as "Unholy Trinity" shows. And desejo-lhe boa sorte, meu compatriot.
