Ever since I first caught glimpse of Southampton grown Heavy Metal quintet DENDERA supporting ALESTORM at a Southampton show in 2012 they have since been on my local Metal radar. They will release their second album "Pillars Of Creation" in June and to say this specimen will turn heads in the Metal music community is a massive understatement.

DENDERA have been on the metal scene since 2011 and been building up quite a big name ever since. Having toured with the likes of SAXON and FOZZY, not to mention landing opening spots at the hottest local shows most recently with guitar prodigy GUS G their fan base continues to grow and become dominant. Should also note that Terrorizer Magazine rightfully tipping them off as a band to watch in the next few years. Fast forward to 2015; they still remain a strong presence on the scene.

This is the first recording I have listened to by DENDERA as I have only ever experienced them live. From the moment I clicked the play button I was instantly taken by Ashley Edison's strong vocal technique which can also be heard in their live performances. This is wonderfully backed backed up the strong musicianship of a talented band. The rolling drums and pounding bass provide a strong back bone for the powerful melodies on the guitars and vocals.

From the pounding "The Chosen One", where the opening reminds me heavily of PANTERA anthem "Walk", to the gallant "In High Tide" the album contains a strong selection of prevailing melodies that will be flying around your heads for days on end. As I listen to this eclectic selection of tracks I am reminded of Heavy Metal pioneers IRON MAIDEN with a slight hint of Thrash legends MEGADETH. Yet there is a modern edge to their sound which will appeal to new Heavy Metal listeners.

So overall a brilliant record that I do recommend listening out for if you like classic Heavy Metal.
