Demonical

Demonical is a Death metal band from Sweden. They play the Old School Death Metal. Yes, we talk Swedish metal chainsaw guitar sound. Tuned guitars, and of course and brutal growl. Demonical and the lyrics, are what you expect from a Death metal band, death, doom, darkness, morbid and a lot of dark fantasy. Old School Death Metal was never meant to be a mainstream genre, more about play, be on gigs and support each other. This live album has 14 tracks, the last track is a Ramones cover. The band has its rots in the 90s. Demonical are members from Centinex. So it's very easy to start to think about Entombed, Dismember and Grave when you hear them. The tracks on this album comes from the last three of Demonical's album's, Chaos Manifesto, World Domination and Mass Destroyer. The opening track "Towards Greater Gods" make a statement about what's to come. Brutal song, chainsaw guitar's, but the lead guitar stands out. This is something Demonical uses a lot, and of course it gives you an Entombed hint. Next track "We Conquer the Throne" is a faster one, no need to dissect this one. Pure raw Death metal as Grave would have done it. I could mention track by track here, but I go for those that stands out for me ...all of them does. But those I find something extra in.

And "Fallen Mountain" is one of them, it is a tribute to L-G Petrov, and Entombed among many of his Band's. This song is heavy, gives a Doom vibe, but still stay Death Metal. And the lyrics, are special on this one. It is built upon Albums and tracks from Entombed. And there is always something special, when an old school death metal band, decide to go heavy. That chainsaw guitar sound, has a lot of space, and it sounds a bit nasty. "Unfold Thy Darkness" this track has a really ominous feeling from the start, almost a bit chaotic, but what really makes this song evil, is the lead guitar and the melody it plays. Also, a track that is a bit a technical. This band has experience from be on stage, it's not the first time, and the performance of this song, shows it. "Sun Blackened" has to be mentioned, a punch in the face, no room for mercy. The track is also the Official Music Video, for this tour.

"By Hatred Bound" has special history, very melodic, or as Martin say in an interview with Metalbite: The idea for that track came up when I was listening to more normal heavy and power metal and I had this idea about having a track where the same drum beat goes through the whole track. That's something we have never done before, and this was also experimental in a way. "Välkommen undergång" must be on the list, it would be translated to Welcome doom. The most odd track ever made in old scool death metal. Heavy Metal, with a hint of Punk in Death metal style. This track, is so easy to remember, actually a more ...sing along song. It has those Heavy Metal riff that transform into Punk riff, nobody see this one coming. And it's really well done, and even if it is one more track, on the album, it can't match this one. Playing Swedish Old School Death Metal, will not throw you into the international spotlight, and keep it up after so many years, keep it alive for the fans out there, I do understand, that Demonical has their hardcore fans.
