DEMON INCARNATE is a Heavy Rock/Doom band based out of Germany. Formed in 2010, this prolific band released five full-length albums in the span of four years. "Darvaza" is the newest EP, released in 2016, and contains six tracks. The title track leads off the album. Heavy doesn't begin to describe the feeling of the weight of this song. Guitars are deep and fuzzy and the main riff just pounds the ground beneath you, crushing it up into chunks. I haven't heard a female vocalist yet in this style of music but Lisa has a pleasing voice, with strong vibrato and just enough presence to support the dark density of the instrumentation. "Mesmerized" has a similar key and meter but isn't quite as evil, as some major chords are mixed in here and there. "Karakum" is similar as well. I like the sound but the EP is starting to sound a bit too repetitive. I understand the style in terms of the boundaries that usually come with it, but when the tracks become indistinguishable it makes for a tough review.

"Caravan" however is the first song where the lumbering heaviness is subdued, in favor of some Folky acoustical work. However the instrumental is really more of a bridge, clocking in at just under one minute. What follows however is the punch of "The Hunter." It's a fancifully beefy song but again suffers from an all-too familiar key and meter. Closing the EP is the song "Eastern Trail." It presents a small degree of diversity from other tracks in that the main riff isn't quite as overbearing to the overall sound. I have never heard any of the bands previous full-length albums, but even considering the Doom genre in general this EP didn't quite make it to the memorable category for me. I think the basis of their sound is interesting but they have to find a way to diversify, even if just a little, to keep each track sounding unique from the others.
