Usually when you hear the words Gothenburg and melodic Death Metal your mind goes to the worst thoughts, but this time things are hopefully much different. DELETION's origin land is well noticed via their music, formed in 2005 and releasing this year - through the Belgian label Painkiller Records - their debut. As far as I know, they had recorded one promo before but I don't have knowledge of what songs or what style of music was inside. The six tracks that are inside provides to the listener an atmospheric extreme sound enriched with some keyboards parts that fulfill it together with fast and sharp riffing having above toxic vocals.
It's not so easy to distinguish the influences of them, think something like the very primitive era of IN FLAMES with a more clear Death Metal face. The members look skilled enough in song writing which looks logical since they where in previous bands, like THORNIUM, TAETRE and Johan Norman was a member of bands like DISSECTION, the mighty RUNEMAGICK, DECAMERON and others.
The album starts very dynamically with a very nice track, Crimson Mask including very good riffs. The Deletion and the start of Nemesis looks a little pathetic but the last one has a killer refrain and a very cool closure, the last minute is excellent, the music flows perfectly and limits up the song. Slave To Anguish also doesn't start well, but it has a circle main riff which is soul pressuring and somewhere in the second minute a very nice moment full of despair and sadness. These emotions are obvious in all the record time, a gloomy disposal that becomes bitterness in the majestic Sphere and finally becomes something like anger or menacing destructive fury in the last song. World Destruction is the best track in this album, the knocking rhythm looks like a razor storm falling upon mankind while the middle part is a requiem for its elimination.
A nice try, that has a feeling inside. After the recording the two Johan left the band but they continue in song writing this period. Painkiller made nice decision offering them a contract and now what I'm expecting is to persuade FUNERAL WINDS to write some new material 'cause there have been passed eight years since their debut and I can't fucking wait any longer!!!
