Deimos - Beyond album cover

When listening to a new band, you know if you're going to like them in an instant, their music hits you full force and you find yourself stuck listening to their album(s) over and over again. This is exactly what happened when I heard DEIMOS.

There's something about DEIMOS that you can't help but like, their music gets right inside and you never get bored of listening to them. In music, you can lose yourself; music offers an escape from whatever you have going on, even if that is for just a moment or two, and with this album, there are no exceptions. They make you feel the way music is meant to and you can sense the passion in every single track. With Christmas coming up I would highly recommend it as a Christmas present to yourself.

The Heavy Metal band formed in 2006; they were originally a tribute act that started writing and playing their own music in 2009. After many changes within the band, they released their first ep in 2012, it's been a steady climb up since then.

The first thing you notice about this album is the cover art, the cover art has an array of things going on and I'm pretty sure if you look at it for too long it may blind you. The cover art is a mix of blue and white, the text is in metallic silver and the album title is in black. There's a lot on the cover, so much in fact you don't get the full impact of the art upon first glance. Upon first glance, I thought it was just blue; my bad. The music however is something else altogether, I feel the band took this album to a level we have not yet seen from them. This will help them massively on the road to success, you can hear how much work they have put into this; it isn't something they just threw together (if it is, they deserve some form of an award).

The opening track to this album is entitled "Alive" and it very much is alive. Like the art, it has a lot going on, and in my opinion, was the right track to open this album. My favorite song on this album has to be "Run or Die" and that is purely because of second 51. The song starts out quite relaxed, then all of a sudden hits you like a train after becoming, what I feel, is one of the heaviest tracks to this album. Track 12 is the perfect ending to this album; it just makes you want more. I am keen to see what DEIMOS have in store for us in the future and if it's on this scale I will be first in line to hear it. The rest of the album is very well put together, perhaps not as heavy as some people may like but still as good.

"Beyond" came out on September 29th and of course, there could be improvements here and there, but on the whole, the band shows a lot of talent and passion in their work, and I for one, love it.<
