Deep - Vol. 1 album cover

There was a legendary Heavy Metal record store a few blocks from where I grew up called Slipped Disc Records (www.slippeddiscrecords.com). Don't look for it is gone now. I don't have the space to explain how important this place, an places like it were to the Metal scene back then. There wasn't the internet, ITunes, or Satellite Radio back then. If I wanted know what cool new albums were coming out, I looked on the giant yellow hand written "Coming Soon" poster on the wall.

Another aspect of this Metal mecca was all the demos in the "Free" box at the cash register. Local bands would put their home made demo cassettes in the box and you were welcome to take whatever you wanted. It was a cool thing they did for the scene.  Bottom line though, was 99% of these cassettes were full of shit.  DEEP's "Vol. 1" should have been in that box. It is a terrible demo that sounds like it was recorded on a cassette that was used 5 times prior. At least when I took something from the "Free Box" I got some hand written liner notes. I didn't get any info with this trash. No bio, no cover art, no website link.... Nothing. And this music is way to shitty for me to go fishing for info on the internet. Not only is DEEP one of the most ungoogleable names ever, the music flat out blows.

I am quickly losing faith in anything labeled Doom or Stoner. It seems to have become the fall back genre for guitarists that only know how to play power chords slowly, drummers that can barely play, and singers that need so many effects they sound like they are being slowly raped at the bottom of a well. Please don't even make "Vol. 2".
