DECEASED is a long-standing American Death and Thrash Metal band, around since 1985. DECEASED hails from the East Coast region of the United States, in Virginia. Virginia is a colonial state, one of the older states in the United States. It is a place with lovely beaches and gorgeous old houses; a place rife with legends and ghost stories. It is a placed steeped in history as the Jamestown Colony was established here in 1607, one of the first permanent English settlements in the US. The music that comes from here is diverse and vibrant. Cities like Richmond and Virginia Beach have thriving Metal and Hardcore scenes. Including, but not limited to, the very famous Hampton Roads area; including famous venues such as NorVa and The Broadberry. DECEASED is a staple in this scene coming from the Richmond area. DECEASED is very influential for not only their own original material but for their long-held support and promotion of newer, and up-and-coming bands in the area. Members of the band often attend and participate in local metal events, making them a fixture of the community. This bands love and loyalty to their scene and the music they love has earned them a special place in the hearts of Metalers. Their latest album, “Children of the Morgue”, is a return to form with their classic sound. Combining their signature old-school style, with a modernized take on traditional Death Metal. With a mix of menacing riffs, pummeling drumming, and guttural vocals, “Children of the Morgue” showcases the bands maturity and experience as well as their unwavering commitment to the Death Metal genre.
“Destination: Morgue” - The guitar that begins is quite the melodic delight as it builds anticipation for what is to come. DECEASED offers a great intro song, leading into a great album. “Children of the Morgue” - This song stands out as a gripping and harrowing track. The song’s ominous atmosphere is set with a slow-burning intro, building into a frenzied, relentless onslaught of raw, uncompromising Death Metal. The vocalist’s deep, menacing growls perfectly captures the dark themes that the song explores, while the musicianship is tight and precise, creating a sound that’s both punishing and engaging. “Terrornaut” - This is a brutal track that pays homage to classic sci-fi horror themes. The song’s chaotic mix of brutal riffs and haunting vocals instantly transport listeners to a nightmarish, otherworldly realm. The driving energy of the song is unrelenting, with the band showcasing both technical prowess and their ability to create a gripping atmosphere.
“The Reaper is Nesting” - This song takes listeners on a journey through a harrowing sonic landscape. The songs ominous and doomy intro builds into a crushing onslaught of brutal riffs and thundering drums, punctuated by the band's unmistakable guttural vocals. This song seamlessly blends the old-school Death Metal influences with modern production values, resulting in a powerful listening experience. “Eerie Wavelengths” - This is a mesmerizing and atmospheric track that draws listeners into a world of dark, haunting sounds. This songs slow, brooding intro sets the stage for a sonic journey through realms of occult and mystical themes. DECEASED masterfully builds tension throughout the song , using both dynamic shifts and moments of eerie calm to create a compelling listener experience. “Fed to Mother Earth” - This is a powerful and brutal Death Metal song that explores themes of mortality and the cycle of life. This song kicks off with a barrage of punishing riffs and thunderous drums, setting the stage for DECEASED’S signature guttural vocal style.
