French metal gents DEBACKLINER hit the internet waves with their first self titled release showing their talent of songwriting which make this band a must listen to. Formed in 2006 under their previous name THE OMEGA, through band member changes along with new musical influences brought a more serious tone to the group and thus DEBACKLINER was forged. One can catch glimpses of BLIND GUARDIAN to THE HAUNTED in their music but don't let that stop you there for the group show a style all their own. Vocalists Bob Saliba and Remi Caleca blend clean powered vocals to light touches of death inspired singing that adds an interest finishing quality that compliments overall. Displaying the vocal duo's power track for "Werewolf" shows where clean vocals along with the growls add that extra kick showing that this a power house track. DEBACKLINER as a group show many facets of their sound with unique guitar compositions to overall construction of their music. Honestly speaking the guitar work is tremendously well written and impressive.

Lyrically the band fits style to their music which one after awhile can recite their lyrics, which are catchy and memorable. DEBACKLINER has a way of turning the listener unto a unique musical storyline from song to song as show with track eight "Jolly Roger" which breathes a life unto itself. Have to admit that track is one of my favorites off this album but this whole record in is entirety speaks volumes. If I were to pin point a song that would capture an instant fan, last track "Circle" would do it, from the dual guitar onslaughts to the sheer force of it all one would be compelled. If guitar-whaling riffs along with piercing vocals are your cup of tea then search no longer for DEBACKLINER are sure to please.
