The rise of Deathcore and its sonorities came from crossing Death Metal with modern tendencies (influenced by names as KORN, SEPULTURA, SLIPKNOT, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, and others) and some elements created by acts as MESHUGGAH and FEAR FACTORY. This is the simplest way possible to define the genre, but obviously it needs more deeper understanding for those interested on the genre and its story. But leaving such things aside, musically the act DEATHTROPHY is very good, as shown on “The Resurgence of Nostalgia”.

This EP was mixed and mastered by Rob Caldwell (who previously worked with MUNICIPAL WASTE, BELPHEGOR, CANNIBAL CORPSE and others), what’s a guarantee of a defined, heavy and aggressive sonority, what the band needs to express its ideas in the best way possible. And it fits on what they need, indeed.

Deathcore in the purest sense of the work is shown here, with all those greasy instrumental tunes on guitars and bass, strong breakdowns and tones of groove traces. The band works on a more understandable way that many that think that overloading things is to be heavier and ‘deathcorier’ than others. It’s technically good, with gross contrasts between death growls and screams, and with everything that the fans of the genre ask for. And being honest: if it wasn’t due the greasy tunes and groove rhythms, one could easily confound the band with a Brutal Death Metal act.

“Ash” is just an intro that starts the Deathcore bloodshed imposed by “Geist”, “Shroud”, “Coffin” and “Flesh”, with all the features the fans of the genre that the fans will love to hear. And it’s really high above the norm of the tsunami of Deathcore names that appeared on the past 10-15 years. It’s really very good.

For the fans, the name of DEATHTROPHY must be known, and the “The Resurgence of Nostalgia” is a ‘must-have’ item for all those who wants to known promising names on Deathcore worldly scene.
