Dismember
Deathmarch
I'm not sure completely sure, but for me, the newest trend in Metal is Old School Death Metal. Once more, we have another band, with another release in the same genre of Metal. This is not a good thing, because (as I always says), trends will bury good bands under an avalanche of many works. It's difficult for the fans to hear all the releases of a genre in a trend. Now, another good band shows a good work, but needs improvements: from Netherlands, comes DEATHMARCH, with their EP "Dismember".
As raw and putrid as their main influences (you'll think of names like DISMEMBER, ASPHYX, ENTOMBED, GRAVE and others pioneers on their earlier albums), and their problem is this: as you hear this EP, you'll feel that they still are a bit rawer as a band, because their musical influences are too evident in their music. They need to leave these influences aside to build something more personal. They have talent enough to do so, you can feel it clearly. The production made a fine work in the recording sessions. The sound is brutal and oppressive, but in an understandable way. It means that they thought about the clarity, about the fans, because they need to understand what is being played to become entangled by their musical work.
"Gastorture" is built under a heavy, slow and solid rhythm, with good guitars, as "Warmachine" is a little faster, showing a strong work from bass guitar and drums. On "Autopsy with a Chainsaw" we hear a short and fast song (they could have left the intro aside). "Bayonet Frenzy" has some good tune variations on vocals (the guttural grunts are too low, a thing they can correct on their next work), and you can feel the earlier Hardcore influence on Death Metal. "Death Marches On" is their best song, showing talent and a good amount of personality, with a very good work from the entire band.
Their talent is clear, so I truly recommend the band's members to put what is inside their hearts out into their music. They can do it.
