Death Toll Rising - Infection Legacy album cover

Sometimes, people think that it's only and together some good musicians and start to playing something that you'll get some good work. And the thing isn't easy as these words seem. No, it's hard, maybe a trial of a lifetime to create something good.

The Canadian quartet from Alberta DEATH TOLL RISING is a good example of a band that needs something more to engage in the team of great names, and "Infection Legacy" is the proof of that.

You can hear that the band is good, all musicians are fine on their instruments, but something in the middle isn't right, for their music stays in what we can call "the almost". Something is missing, that very same thing that makes music gains life, something more than some instruments and vocals united. It's not bad, but only needs a soul.

Fine vocals doing high harsh tunes and low grunts, good riffs and solos, bass and drums are great, but when they gathered together, you can fell the sensation that is that they can go further, but stay in some kind of a "safe zone".

The sound production is almost perfect (even being a self-released album), a fine artwork, but it just embody a work that can be better than we hear.

It's not a total loss, far away from this, as we can see in good tracks as "Judas Cradle" (the drums are fantastic), "Scorched Earth Policy" (great guitar work, indeed), "Malice Incarnate" (again guitars are the great point of the song), and the good "Revelation Despair", but the lack of a soul are damaging all the efforts.

Please, don't get me wrong with my words, I excuse myself with you all, but some life is needed here. But I can say for sure that they can make a work much better than this, as certain as the Sun will rise tomorrow. So do it, guys!

I, personally, believe in you.
