German grindcore band DEAD reissued their sleazy, pornographic album "You'll Never Know Pleasure Until You've Tasted Pain" for its 25th anniversary. It was first released in 1995.

What can I say about this album other than that it's extremely rapey from its song titles to its lyrical content? I'm not sure why people listen to such vulgar music about rape and killing women, but it's absolutely not for me. As a woman, it makes me never want to leave the house. I can't speak to what the people in this band are like, but the fact they've been writing perverted traumatic material like this for their entire career is troubling.

I won't lie, it's hard to review something like this. It's hard to know something like this was made, that they're not the only band who writes music like this, and that there are people in the world who enjoy it. Obviously, there must be people who enjoy it considering the band has been around since the 90s and even feels the need to re-release and remaster this monstrosity to celebrate 25 years. And they have over 3,000 Facebook followers. Do they make music like this for the shock value, because they think its funny (it isn't), or because they're fucked up human beings? Either way I'm not a fan.

I guess I should write some things about the actual music rather than the themes. I hate the vocals. Musically, there are some things I would probably enjoy about this - it's heavy, it's noisy, it's crunchy. I might actually listen to it if maybe they had just not written lyrics or written different lyrics. Why does rape need to be involved? Why choose the most disgusting, vile words and lyrics to use? Why create something like this at all?

It's hard to believe there was a time some people thought KISS was evil music and now this exists. This makes MARILYN MANSON look like the patron saint of cute baby animals. I know some of y'all are going to think I'm being a prude, but I'm not concerned with that. I like some crude, rude, and gorey stuff, but this crosses the line in much the same way I can't stand to watch something like the movie "I Spit on Your Grave." It makes a spectacle out of rape and its not OK.

I'm extra confused as to why there are six parts to a song called "Recognize - Spread Your Legs Whore" at the end of the album and the entire time it's just half ass music playing behind a woman screaming then someone saying "spread your legs whore" repeated over and over and over. What the actual fuck? This has turned out to be more of a rant than a review, but I barely have anything nice to say.
