Bitter Verses
Dead Hearts

September 29, 2006
As with pretty much every other genre of extreme music hardcore has been overexploited, overpopulated and ultimately stagnant due to the existence of a large number of acts wanting to grab a piece of success without offering nothing more than mediocrity. On the other hand there are always new acts willing to become pioneers, torchbearers to a higher level of artistic exploration. In our case Dead Hearts falls in the second category.
Started out in early 2004 the band became known by playing on regular basis live shows on their own, or supporting known H.C. acts along the way. Soon enough labels approached them but in the end Ferret was the one offering them the chance of delivering to a broad audience their debut album.
Without being the band that opens a new chapter in the history of hardcore none can defy the fact that Dead Hearts deliver passionate and well-inspired music. Without avoiding some of the cliches of the genre is more than obvious that they are full of ideas refreshing an overcrowded genre. The punk rhythms appear sporadically, the gang vocal lines, the atmosphere of desolation - all these create an explosive mixture of well performed music.
From the mid-tempo themes of Fall and Fail to the furious Cold there isn't a boring moment in this one. Dead Hearts emerge with an impressive debut, I am pretty sure we will hear more of them in the future...
