Dead Eyed Sleeper - Gomorrh album cover

If you don't know DEAD EYED SLEEPER then that's probably because you're not German, this is a purely German Death/Grind band, lyrics are in German and everything. "Gomorrh." Is the bands forth album and their first in five years, I guess they wrote one song a year since the last release, at least the songs should be masterful, unique and full of interesting never before heard hooks.

While the opening track "Menschheit" is more just to get you use to what this album has to offer and "Winterdammerung" is much of the same this album has a few stand out songs. "Der Krieg I" is a lot like a Melodic Grindcore song having more mid tempo riffs than the rest of the album seems to. "Erinnerung" is a much slowed down song that opens with one hell of a squeal. What I'm realising as I write this is that this album just doesn't have any stand out characteristics, the band feels like a CATTLE DECAPITATION clone, although they do it quite well.

Anything you find in this album can be found in any average CATTLE DECAPITATION album, eventually after a few songs the album just kind of ends, there's not really anything to hint that it's the end of the album or really even that the last song is ending, it just ends. It's hard to talk about and album that doesn't seem to have any original ideas, you can't think of anything original to say. The best i have for you is if you're a fan of CATTLE DECAPITATION or their style of Death/Grind and are too impatient to wait for the next album then maybe you should grab this, otherwise, I just can't recommend this album.
