Moment Of Weakness
Dawn Of Silence

Are all three Johansson members coming from the same family? No, only two of them (Mats and Pelle) are brothers. Quite logical, while the first option could also have actual credit, since 'Johansson' can as well be Sweden's national surname (everyone knows at least 4 or 5 Johanssons in Rock/Metal bands, right?)
These three Johanssons play together for 5-6 years now and - by listening to this current album - can easily suppose they all are Iron Maiden die-hards but keen on the Hammerfall recording/producing mode(s). Well, they already released a set of four demo CDs in prior, but no luck could they have regarding a record deal. Their bio letter refers to a self-financed effort for the Moment Of Weakness album, but I see it released under the Metal Heaven 'umbrella'. Good, good, good...
In regards to the tunes 'lurking' in here, no news is(?) bad news. Nah, too cynical. Moment Of Weakness sees the quartet 'in love' with the legendary British band of Maiden plus their compatriots Hammerfall, not only in terms of songwriting (dual leads, drumming, bass lines) but also via the vocal harmonies. More 'obscure' songs/parts also brought the US equivalent of Twisted Tower Dire to mind, but - in general - the sound/mix is too 'clean/polite' that leaves minimum chances for banging your head to the music (or to the wall, better). The instrumentation is exacting (tempo variety is surely missing), while the 'throat' of Patrik marks some very good singing with both melodic lines and merciless screams; I'd wait for a better accent, I have to state.
Post-Fear Of The Dark young Maiden fans will like this one. Even more, Hammerfall followers will love it. Still, if your taste origins from even earlier, then you might as well surpass this release. If you laugh at Hammerfall's warrior-wanna-be manners, then you'll not - logically - change your mind with Dawn Of Silence. However, Moment Of Weakness is a 'true' album for lovers of this style.
