Dave Evans was AC/DC's original singer and solo career maker from the United Kingdom. His earlier album was called "Sinner" in 2004 and "Judgement Day" in 2008. He will release a new EP "Nothing to Prove" via Rocksector Records on 3rd March 2014. The EP has inside a cover of blues classic "Baby Please Don't Go" and 3 new racks which Dave co-written with guitar player Chris Appleton from ABSOLVA, who plays on this EP along with ABSOLVA colleagues Dan Bate and Martin McNee, Dave's UK Badasses.
The opening song, "Put Up or Shut Up", taking a fair resemblance to a unison of VAN HALEN and DEEP PURPLE mostly thanks to the riffs and the solid rhythm section, memorable singing and the lead section. Frankly, after digging this one up again and again I found close patterns to SAXON as well. "I Believe" intros with a church kind of hymn, eventually developing into a QUEEN like song, al'a "We Will Rock You", surging as a melodic and fantastic climate of 80's stadium Rock, out there clinging to the basics, singing "I Believe Un Rock'N' roll Music, I believe in Rock N' Roll world, I believe what the music tells me". That very line shows that it is in the veins. "Reach For The Sky" crosses from the veil of Rock into straight up British Heavy Metal with various of IRON MAIDEN influences, spraying amazing melodic guitar riffs. The fourth track is a cover of Big Joe Williams' "Baby Please Don't Go". This song was first recorded in 1935 and has since been covered by many artists such as BUDGIE, AEOROSMITH and AC/DC. Dave Evans' performance isvery interesting and worth to listen. It feels like the vibe of WHITESNAKE and THIN LIZZY with marching drums & stronger riffs, also with bluesy echoes.
"Nothing to Prove" is an essence of greatness, essential Rock and Heavy Metal of the best quality. Dave Evans has nothing to prove really, he veteran player with lots of history behind him. The material is catchy, fluent, heavy and immensely classic. Hopefully there will be more successful runs for Mr. Evans.
