Darkest Horizon - The Grand Continuum album cover

Sometimes I love to be a metal head. Honestly, I always do. But when such an album comes out to our world, this makes me grin. This is, so far, the best Epic Metal album I heard ever.

Hailing all the way from Hesse, Germany, those masterminds are DARKEST HORIZON.

Now, I know they categorize themselves as Epic Melodic Death Metal, but I actually heard Avantgarde Black Metal here. Why, I do enjoy both worlds. They sound great, they did here an amazing job, and everything sits here in a perfect line altogether. Aye, this self-released album should kick them hard up in the world, and you would never be disappointed from the quality they reached in their own studio.

The songs themselves are built in a great manner, such as "A Universe Reborn", and "Utopia". Alongside, I also must say, that for once, there is a Death Metal band that doesn't sing about...well... Death. And this also makes me glad, however gives me harder time to call them a Death Metal group.

If to take, for an example, the song "Utopia", you would hear there a glimpse of CHILDREN OF BODOM, but it feels more intelligent and progressive, it is very melodic and drives you on. From the other side, for more Traditional Death-Troopers out there, this might sound odd and strange. And I must agree - this is a kick start of a brand new, brave subgenre of the Death Metal - And I will surely listen to it more.
