Our Final Haven
Darker It Gets
As long as musicians use their influence (without denying what's inside the hearts) to create music, things will flow in a good way. It is what can be called as personality, because no one creates anything from nothingness. The way that's hard: to write things on a band's own. And it seems to not be a problem to the quintet DARKER IT GETS, as can be heard on "Our Final Haven".
The band's musical core can be said as a blend of Metalcore with many different elements from other Metal genres. It's melodic and brutal, with a clear modern outfit in many parts, but influences from traditional Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal can be heard in many parts, as well from Groove Metal. So, expect the different and even the unexpected in their work, and enjoy the energy and melodic hooks that are into the mixture. The production could be better, because their musical work needs something in a better way. It's heavy and aggressive in terms of sonority, but it bears a crude feeling that isn't necessary. Resuming: it's good, but could be better.
The best moments to take a bit on "Our Final Haven": "No Glory, No Charades" (the mix between modern influences with traditional Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal elements was a wise choice, based on a good work of guitars), "CONAN" (this one shows an aggressive insight, with a good technical insight, and with a heavy work from bass guitar and drums), "The Ark" (the melodic parts are really great), "The Divide" (very good bitter ambiences with charming guitar duets), the modern breakdowns and massive weight of "Broken Grounds" and "Treason", the good harsh vocals contrasting the melodies on "promise.forget". It seems that DARKER IT GETS is a band that is still developing their musical work, so the future is promising. But it doesn't mean that the readers can't enjoy "Our Final Haven" right now.
